MiG-15

The Soviet jet that shocked the West in Korea and became the most-produced jet fighter in history. It made the MiG brand legendary.
History
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 shocked the Western world when it appeared over Korea in 1950, outperforming every UN aircraft except the F-86 Sabre. Its swept-wing design and powerful armament of two 23mm and one 37mm cannon made it a deadly opponent, particularly against B-29 bombers. Ironically, its engine was derived from the British Rolls-Royce Nene, sold to the Soviets in a controversial postwar deal. With over 18,000 produced including licensed copies, it was the most-produced jet fighter in history. The MiG-15 served with over 40 air forces and established the MiG bureau as the premier Soviet fighter design house for decades to come.
