The iconic helicopter of the Vietnam War and the most-produced helicopter in history. Its distinctive whop-whop sound became the auditory signature of an entire conflict.

History

The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, universally known as the Huey, revolutionized military operations by pioneering the concept of air mobility. In Vietnam, Hueys transformed warfare by enabling rapid insertion and extraction of troops into combat zones. The helicopter became the visual and auditory symbol of the Vietnam War through countless films and news broadcasts. Over 16,000 were built in various models, making it the most-produced military helicopter in history. The UH-1 served as the foundation for the entire family of Bell helicopters including the AH-1 Cobra and the civilian Bell 212 and 412.
