AH-64 Apache

The worlds most advanced and most heavily armed attack helicopter. The primary aerial tank-killer for the US Army and a dozen allied nations.
History
The Boeing AH-64 Apache was developed to replace the AH-1 Cobra as the US Armys primary attack helicopter. Its integrated Target Acquisition Designation Sight and Pilot Night Vision Sensor gave it an unprecedented night-fighting capability. The Apache proved devastating in the 1991 Gulf War, where a flight of eight AH-64s fired the opening shots of the war by destroying Iraqi radar sites. The Longbow variant added a mast-mounted millimeter-wave radar capable of tracking 128 targets simultaneously. Over 2,400 have been built, and the Apache serves as the backbone of attack helicopter fleets in 17 nations worldwide.
